WEST is providing a desperately needed service in the field of embryology. We are recruiting recent graduates with a BS in any life science to become fully trained embryologists. The demand for trained embryologists is high and the supply is low. Currently, the trend is that a large number of lab directors and senior embryologists will be retiring in the coming years leaving the demand even higher. This adds to the rising number of labs already short staffed with nowhere to find trained embryologists. Labs are being forced to hire untrained embryologists and attempt to train in-house without the skills or time to do so.

WEST offers the only program in the US where a recent college graduate can, upon completion of the 3-month course, become a fully trained embryologist from the ground up. The extensive hours in the laboratory and breadth of knowledge offered to WEST participants prepares them to walk into any laboratory and perform all tasks at a fully functioning level.

WEST also offers 1-2-week intensive training courses for an embryologist with basic training. The WEST goal is to be to provide extensive hands-on time as well as full knowledge in the science behind the work so participants are not simply bench technicians, rather, highly knowledgeable and intelligent scientists.

Debbie's reputation for excellence and her deep-rooted network in the industry have helped launch the careers of countless embryologists.

Debbie was instrumental in developing the Cal Poly training program and personally trained over 37 clinical embryologists during her 10-year tenure teaching applied embryology. Her expertise has led her to speak and train at leading laboratories, companies, and societies both in the U.S. and internationally.

To date, WEST has successfully placed over 100 new embryologists into IVF laboratories across the country. While employment cannot be guaranteed, Debbie works closely with every participant to help find the right laboratory match—one that suits their skills and supports long-term success.
